Apx 14" X 8 1/2" X 8 1/2". Metal label and leather luggage tag: "Jacqueline Cochran Luggage New York". Red interior, feels like it is covered with linen, with a removable tray. Appears to be the original mirror on top, secured with acrylic strips. Two condition notes: the mirror is very hazy (no chips or damage), and the leather on the handle (at the bottom) is worn (it is securely held in place with the original metal strips). Otherwise, only minor signs of age or use. I'm sorry, I don't have the key. We have a full-size piece of luggage which matches this case, which is listed separately. Jacqueline Cochran (1906 - 1980) was a pioneer female aviator, and is considered one of the most talented racing pilots of her generation. She was the first woman to break the sound barrier and worked with Amelia Earhart to open aviation racing to women. At the time of her death, no pilot (man or woman) held more speed, distance or altitude records in aviation history than she did. Her husband was a wealthy financier and marketer, who recognized the value of her publicity. They also launched a cosmetics line called "Wings" (Marilyn Monroe endorsed her line of lipstick). The Riverside County, CA airport is named in her honor. The case is very well made, and sturdy. It weighs 6 lbs. We've attached lots of photos - enlarge for detail.
