This belonged to my grandmother, who was born in the 1890's. She and my grandfather traveled to Europe (primarily Switzerland, since they were in the watch business) at least twice a year. Although this bag does not have a label indicating it is made in France, I am 99.9% positive that is the case. I have another evening bag of hers that does have the "handmade in France" label. This does not. This bag is bright white. The tightly beaded background appears to be spotless and damage free. It has floral embroidery on both sides, and the colors of the embroidered flowers are strong, without fading or snags. The 6th picture shows the back of the bag. It has a goldtone brassy frame. The very top of the evening bag is decorated with a braid of what appears to be glass beads. There are small faux pearls on the strap.  The clasp is snug and the hinges are fine. The inside is a cream color satin. It has one very faint water (?) mark, and a two age spots (I wish I only had two age spots!!) There is a small pocket inside. My guess is that this was purchased in the late 1930's, early 1940's...before the war. It is an exquisite bag which I have cherished for years. However, I have no family that would appreciate this, and I'm no spring chicken, so I don't see any reason to hoard it any longer.
