Rare 1840 Antique Victoria Patent Patten Shoe Overshoes Start Price USD 50.00 Current Price USD 406.89 Time Left - Bid Count 17 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Thursday, August 28, 2008 End Time Sunday, September 07, 2008 Location Moorpark, California See more about 'Rare 1840 Antique Victoria Patent Patten Shoe Overshoes' Description 1860-1960....one hundred years of fashion & accesories     Antique Victoria Patent Patten Shoe Overshoes This pair of early Victorian antique Victoria Patent patten shoe overshoes date from the 1840s.  They are hand made of wood, with brass fittings and leather bands.  These unique rare clog sandal style patten overshoes have straight soles, squared toes, with leather straps across them, leather heel backs and brass hinges in the middle for mobility.  There are brass plates with the "Victoria Patent" stamp; Queen Victoria's Royal Warrant of Appointment (see bottom photo for close-up).  These overshoes would have been worn over ones shoes to protect them from the mud.  The shoes measure 10 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide.  They are in good condition for their age, but show some signs of wear.  There is a break in one of the brass plates.  These are truly a rare find!
