Start Price USD 39.99 Current Price USD 39.99 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price USD 44.99 Reserve Price - Start Time Wednesday, December 03, 2008 End Time Monday, December 08, 2008 Location GLENDALE, AZ See more about 'New Civil War Sky Blue Union/Confederate Wool Trousers' Description On offer is a pair of reproduction Civil War wool trousers.    This is a reproduction of the standard Federal-issue infantry trousers issued to Union troops during the war, and of course Confederates also wore these when captured from the Yankees.  However, it might surprise some to know that identical trousers were prescribed by regulation for wear by Confederate troops, and (despite what some reenactors will tell you) the Confederate government did issue sky blue trousers at different times during the war.  The firm of Kelly, Tackett, and Ford of Manchester, Virginia, for example, is known to have supplied the Richmond Depot with varying quantities of sky blue wool cloth throughout the war, and undoubtedly some of this went into trouser production.  There are also letters from soldiers in all theaters of the war testifying to the fact that sky blue trousers had been issued to them by the Confederate government. This authentic reproduction is made of high quality, military weight sky blue wool.   It has two sideseam "slash" pockets, and a split waistband in back.  It has paper-backed tin buttons, four on the front and two on the back, for affixing to your suspenders (if you have the type of suspenders which require four buttons in the back as well, it is a simple matter to add two additional buttons on the back).  It also has the period-correct button-front fly.    The waist-band of the trousers is lined with unbleached cotton muslin cloth.  The trousers are not hemmed. We just got a new shipment of these fine trousers in, and they are currently available in most even waist sizes from 30" to 50" (EXCEPT SIZES 38, 40, AND 44,  WHICH ARE CURRENTLY SOLD OUT).  The inseams on these trousers vary slightly, but usually run between 33" and 34" unhemmed.  Also, just a note on sizing...these are "regular" size pants.  If you normally wear a "long" or a "tall" size, these pants are most likely not going to fit you.  So please be aware of this when bidding.
