Description
GOT MY GIRL BACK!   This morning gave me my first opportunity to list on eBay since Kai got home.  This is an amazing Beckon hand dyed shibori piece that I designed right before I left Santa Fe, and got in today!  Yipee!  I picked up my girl, Kai Sunday night and David and I couldn't believe how much we were looking forward to it!  All the snarls, dirty dishes hidden in her laundry basket and other teen challenges had faded away over the summer.  Much like the hormones that make women forget how awful labor was so they'll do it again and again without the fear of the pain, we too, forgot the anxieties, angst and difficulties that a hormonally charged and willful mer-teen brought to our daily life.  Kai and I do transitions differently too.  I'm always excited, chattery and hyper when I pick her up.  She always looks shell shocked and acts like she's flown in from Kosovo instead of Springfield, Illinois.  After I talked at her for about 5 minutes she gave me a laser stare and said, "Mom...stop talking.  You're giving me a headache.  Did anyone ever tell you you talk too much?"  Yipes!  My "missin' my girl ardor" went down a few hundred notches as I tried to be zen-mom.  Not my strong suit by a long shot.  When we went down to get her luggage she refused to stand with me at the front of the carousel where the bags all shoot out.  She said I talked too loud and was too aggressive standing at the mouth of the carousel shoot.   I couldn't remember what luggage she took and without a word she walked to the other end of the carousel and just stared at me.  I had the cat bird seat to get the bags, but didn't know which ones they were.  After almost breaking my neck a hundred times trying to get a secret signal from Kai when her bags were coughed out of the shoot I stopped trying.  Next thing I knew, Kai was gone and she was next to me with her luggage in tow.  We got in the car and Kai glared at David who was listening to our favorite San Francisco station. Without a word or a warning, her arm across the front of the car and she hit the scan button until a hip hop song came on.  David didn't have the 30 minutes I'd just had to foreshadow what were in for so he kind of yelped, "Hey...they were getting ready to an acoustic set on KFOG*."  Uh huh.  We listened to all the awful dribble we'd been freed from all summer.  Finally Kai turned off the radio and said, "Sorry about that.  I had to make sure they had something for me to listen to in the Bay Area."  She was wide eyed as she saw the palm trees, cool weather, the glittering water in the Bay and the delicious diversity of the people at the airport.  She was getting her bearings, and I knew she liked what she saw.  But after a summer of disappointments with Bio-mom, she needed to make sure that David and I were still real, kept our promises, and hadn't moved to a god-forsaken town.  We still haven't seen any kids in Orinda and we think they might keep them in pod houses until school starts.  She did her math placement tests yesterday and 2 kids were there.  We also asked if the bus picked her up and they gave us the information on the "independent" bus service.  When I saw the box that said, LAMORINDA BUS PASS INFORMATION, I knew it was all about money again.  And it was.  $500 to pick her up every day.  I told her that it was a damn fine walk and that was that.  I feel like I bought a Mercedes* at a police auction and am just realizing that the maintenance on the car will equal my yearly income, I have a car --  but pray it doesn't need anything done to it!   As I continue to use antique textiles to combine with the hand dyed silk kimonos I am creating, I have to say that this is by far the most amazing one yet!  The kimono is a hand dyed silk charmeuse, 19mm for a fabulous hand, shibori dyed in marigold and tangerine.  As a redhead this piece sings like a diva on my mer-curves!  The trim is from an over 100 year old Wedding Furisode Kimono that I bought and it was new with the basting threads.  The trim is a wonderful fabric that combines shibori, brocade and hand painting in the same piece of fabric.  The trim is not pieced from serveral kimonos!  This is a lush and vibrant piece that will take anything you pair her with over the top.   I am still getting in wonderful dribbles of my BECKON WINTER/FALL/HOLIDAY COLLECTION and keep selling out of the wonderful COTTON CASHMERE KNIT FRIDA KAHLO TUNICS AND PALAZZO PANTS.  I just got a small shipment in of both so keep your peeper peeled for them.  I also have some gorgeous amazing black silk organza OVERPANTS in the Aria Pant that slip over the Palazzo pants in either the slinky or the Cotton Cashmere for an elegant and stunning mer-silhouette!    My site and eBay store is dedicated to the larger woman I call the Mermaid Archtype.  My archetype is Aphrodite meets Dorothy Parker...we all hold different frequencies of "mythic women."  I am dedicated to the Mermaid Archetype who holds the pathos and mythos of the Goddess Aphrodite and the Magdalene Archetype.  The Mermaid holds the power of transformation for love, death, life and inspiration.  I believe we dress who we are from the inside out...so please join me in celebrating your mermaid diva-ness!   I just sent out my newsletter, but I am getting a shipment of BECKON in today so I'm still offering anyone on my newsletter the opportunity to get the great BECKON layering tunics, palazzo pants and everything else before anyone else!  I do it all on eBay as a BUY IT NOW, and you save big $$$ and get free shipping.  So if you're interested in getting it first, getting it cheaper and getting FREE SHIPPING…email me dfloeter@aol.com and I will create a Buy It Now on eBay, just for you!  Great stuff too…!  And if you want my weekly newsletters, Sign up for my email newsletters by adding my eBay Store to your Favorites.     AUCTION ITEM: BECKON KIMONO TABARD W/ ANTIQUE KIMONO FURISODE TRIM     SIZE: ONE SIZE BUST: 84" LENGTH: 40"   FABRIC: 100% HAND DYED 19MM SILK CHARMEUSE W/ SILK SHIBORI & BROCADE ANTIQUE KIMONO TRIM   CARE: DRY CLEAN ONLY     Check out my other items!  Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
