These scarfs are rare and seldom seen for sale and the scarf comes with  a new CITES certificate and a beautiful  wooden box to store your vicuna scarf. The vicuna is legally sheared in Peru without harm to the animal and each vicuna can only be sheared every two years thus the scarcity and high price of the vicuna wool.. The fiber is popular due to its warmth. Its warming properties come from the tiny scales that are on the hollow air filled fibers. It causes them to interlock and trap insulating air. At the same time, it is finer than any other wool in the world. Through a unique co-operative effort by Loro Piana ( I also have an authentic LORO PIANA  VICUNA scarf listed in a separate listing)and Peru, Loro Piana has provided funds for the care and protection of the vicuna. There are only two sources of legal vicuna garments and accessories: Loro Piana and  a Peruvian company that processes the vicuna wool made from the vicuna and produces a limited amount of legal Vicuna items each year.  Current prices for vicuña yarns and fabrics can range from $1,800 to $3,000 per yard.  This authentic VICUNA SCARF  is rendered in NATURAL VICUNA COLOR.  The scarf measures 12 3/8 inches wide and is 55 1/2 inches long plus 2 1/2 inches of fringe at each end for a total length of 60 inches.and is made of 100% pure VICUNA.  The VICUNA fabric is from Peru and the scarf was made in Peru to the highest standards because of the cost of the vicuna wool.
