A near-twin to the other Ceil I have listed this week, this dress is fashioned from mocha polished cotton with an abstract floral print of roses in hues of scarlet, ash, cream, and fawn on a burnt umber and crimson background. It has a rectangular neckline with vertical pleats creating a bust-framing ruffle, an unusual choice for Ceil Chapman, demonstrating her virtuosity at manipulating fabics. The dress has short sleeves, a fitted bodice with a piped waistline and bow on the right side of the waist from which gentle pleats open into the skirt's tulip shape. The skirt is a true sarong, open on the right side and covered by a panel that curves around the opening to a slit on the opposite side of the skirt. The dress is fully lined is soft brown faille, is partially boned in the bodice, and fastens with a back metal zipper with a hook and thread loop at the neck and waist. It is in excellent condition, though it should be noted that this dress like its twin has been taken in by 1/2"-1" all around the interior; however it was exceptionally well done and noone would ever be able to notice from the exterior. The Ceil Chapman label is located at the back of the neck, probably resewn in after the alterations were complete. A striking and unusual Ceil for the lucky gals whose size it is!
