Shields are an excellent defensive item, but most people don't spend enough time creating their shields in favor of working on their swords. Not only will this allow you to spend more time on your character, but you will also not tire out as quickly carrying this well made, light-weight shield, as well as be better protected by the curved shape that will stay closer to the body.  Made of solid Close Cell EVA latex-foam, this shield is a very large sized shield (shown next to a 7lb cat for size reference) made in the traditional roman motif, a style traditionally carried by the roman troops who won many wars, spreading their empire ever outward. The main body of the shield is bright red with a central motif in yellow. The central boss is antiqued silver-tone and the outer edging is gold-tone with black 'bolts'. The metalic paints only just catch the light. The shield is strapped to be worn on the left arm, with a leather strap for the arm and a grip for the hand. The grip is 4.5" long and 1.25" in diameter. Though slightly smaller than the historic version of this shield, it is the largest shield we carry. The shield is made of close cell EVA foam that measures 1.25" thick and 34.5" tall. It measures 19" straight across or 22" when measured along the curve. The entire shield is then coated in colorful Latex to provide a tough, safe, finish.Whether you use this for sparring, martial arts practice, or for LARP and other role-playing games, any activity becomes more fun with boffers.
