Description
Hi.  This is a 2 piece, custom made, one of a kind 1870's Natural Form  bustle dress.    I am a professional designer/seamstress and take great care in every detail of my gowns. This post Civil War bodice and bustle skirt  is perfect for the period Re-enactor .My garments are made without velcro, zippers etc  I actually prefer wearing bustle gowns because they're so much easier to get around in while milling about an olde town or reenacting in a wild West show. This particular costume was worn to an old West gun fight.  I use high grade materials and finish all seams for durability with hopes of it becoming an antique itself one day . This particular costume was made from a heavy weight multi-striped grey and black wool blend. This outfit is heavier than the usual garments I make. The bodice has been lined ,completely piped with satin piping, edged and boned. There is also lots of fringe, tassels, twisted ball buttons and appliques added. The skirt is also lined, has a large pocket on the left side hook & eye closure and a 3" dust ruffle at the hemline to help protect the skirt during use. There are hand made velvet covered buttons which are just for looks as the front actually closes with hooks and eyes which are hidden under the buttons. The hooks and eyes do have app. 1" of extra room to make this bodice a little bigger.   The neckline and bodice decollatage is made with high grade black velvet and has a satin piped raised collar with large tassels and braid with giant ball buttons for decor. There are also the ribbon ties inside  the waistline to help hold the bodice in place .    The seams on the skirt have satin piping and the trim near the hem is made from layers and lace and black short napped fur. I'm hoping the photos show all the trims for you. I am showing this gown over my antique bustle hoop which I have for sale on another auction . This bustle outfit can be worn with or without a seperate bustle underneath. There is a slight train added to the skirt to accommodate this without making the skirt short in the back.I would recommend taking your measurements with the correct under garments to be sure of a proper fit. . As for the size. This outfit will fit app. a 36 " bust,  a 28 " waist comfortably The front length of the skirt is 41" and the  back of the skirt is 45" & does have a slight train.( I am 5'6" and wear a 6-8 if that helps)  Sleeves are 23" from shoulder to wrist. There is a large 3 "dust ruffle underneath the hemline to help protect the skirt when being worn.  This costume has been worn and there is slight rubbing at the hemline..   This costume has been cleaned and stored until today. Final sale. This auction is for bodice and skirt only. I am selling garments from my costume collection and am unable to make custom pieces at this time. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you. Thanks for looking :)
