These shoe stretchers were very much part of clothing needs in tose days as shoes did not come in the sizes they do today, nor widths and thus, many times, had to be stretched to fit. What I also love about it is that it was MADE IN THE USA! Wht is wonderful about this pieces is the great patina on the wood. It has been almost polished through ages of use and time! The handle does have some slight surface rust, as is common with these old piece. If you find it offensive you can just sand it off. The piece also shows the difference in the patina (see picture) in a spot where there once was an old lable, that has since peeled away but you can still see remains of. I have foundness for things that were produced/made in this country as that is becoming scarcer and scarcer in today's global economy. This neat piece of the past is in very good working condition. It would make a wonderful display piece in any Victorian/vintage home.I take pride in what I offer on eBay. My items are antique or vintage and not new.
