Description
An Exceptional c1900 Victorian Tea Gown *Lavish Details Welcome to Marymc Auctions Celebrating 10 years on Ebay! Thank You To all the many wonderful people and customers we have met over the years. New to our auctions? PLEASE read fine print below. DESCRIPTION: Poetic beauty c1900 Trained Victorian Promenade or Tea Ensemble. This took my breath away when I first saw it. Created in Boston for Mary Louise Morgan. We have handled what was left of her trousseau and most was made in Paris or Boston and all of it the finest quality. What an amazing Wedding Gown this would make. **The dress is comprised of a waist or top and skirt. Classic Wasp or S curve profile. The fabric is a gauzey ivory cotton muslin. The skirt is trained and features a full sweep. **The skirt was not meant to have a lot of petticoats....it should float gracefully down to the floor from the waist and fall in soft folds around the female form. It is ornamented with absolutely gorgeous trim. Large flounce around the hem with gathered self ruffles. Cordonnet details...or trim created from gossamer chiffon outlined in satin stitching. Top stitching around the hips. Skirt has gossamer silk lining. **The bodice emphasizes the desired S curve or so called Wasp line that was so popular during this period in fashion. It has sleeves that are slightly below the elbows...created with large poufs of the muslin. The top of the bodice is double layer sheer gossamer chiffon. Accented with dainty chiffon bows, embroidery and pin tucking. The bodice is further embellished with the same trim as the skirt. The bodice is fully lined. **Petersham label reads Flaherty, Boston. The bodice is not boned, as was often the case during this period in fashion. It is lined in silk chine. It hooks up the back...both inside and outside bodice. **Maltese lace Parasol is available in another listing. We show the dress with no petticoat...just a slip. C O N D I T I O N: Excellent vintage condition. Wearable and sturdy. A few spots on bodice chiffon (see photo). A few minor repairs to muslin. (we show the holes before they were repaired). Truly beautiful condition with issues being minimal and not readily apparent. Gossamer skirt lining has some holes, but this is to be expected, and does not show. S I Z E: Skirt: Length: front is 43", back 53", waist approx 22-23" (this could be enlarged easily). Bodice: Waist 22-23" (could make larger as waist is lost in fabric draping), bust approx 33-maybe 34". Again, I believe these can be played with if you have a good seamstress. Please be sure to email with ANY questions about size. PLEASE NOTE: We do not clean most of our vintage clothing, and recommend that you either wash or have them dry cleaned. Any issues we believe will be problematic we mention. Thanks, Maire et al INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: USPS Express, fully insured. PLEASE READ WITH CARE ....
