I would guess the timeframe for this set would be very late 50s or early 60s. When I acquired this veil, it was with a gown that was beyond repair, save for fantastic Alencon lace. Reminiscent of vintage Priscilla of Boston veils, this set was crafted by “maurer originals”. It has been lovingly restored to near-perfect condition. I used the 10” wide lace at the bottom of the gown to fashion a short 2nd tier, and it can also be used as a blusher. The color is a rich, creamy ivory (see photo for color comparison to today’s “light ivory”). I recommend this veil to be paired with a vintage gown, or a gown with a simple design and a very rich ivory color. The veil measures 108” long, cathedral length, and 74” wide. The lace around the border is unbeaded, and is 6” wide and still has its “whiskers” or “eyelashes”. The center motif is beaded with tiny clear seed beads and pearl clusters to complement the Juliet cap. The short tier is 28” in length, and the lace on this tier is 10”. Both tiers are lightly decorated near the lace with clear/silvertone sequins. The tulle on the cathedral tier is new, and also the short tier. The entire ensemble has been completely redone. Two Swarovski Margarita crystals enhance the center motif, and one appears on each side near the top. The lace edge of about the first 2 feet at the top is comprised of graduating appliques. The Juliet cap has been completely restored and is covered in matching Alencon lace and a very unique design of hundreds of tiny 2 mm pearls and iridescent seed bead clusters and leaves. Teardrop pearls accent the tips at the sides. It attaches easily with a simple comb and has loops in the back as well for pinning. Each tier is individually detachable, the cathedral veil with clear nylon snaps and the shorter tier with velcro. You can wear them in any combination you choose. I would like to note that the lace is very vintage and does not have the crispness that new Alencon lace has, so please take this into consideration if you plan on wearing this veil with a gown that has a lot of new lace, it will likely not match. Also, this is an antique and it’s not absolutely perfect, but pretty close! I could find no major holes, tears, or flaws to note.
