It is Hand Made or Hand Crafted with a Floral Design with Cream Silk Floss on a Creamy color Silk ground. It dates from about 1870 - 1890's or 19th Century. This Shawl has Flash and Classic Chic at the same time - it would be a great addition to any film or Theatre Production that takes place in this Victorian or Edwardian Period. This Wrap would also be a wonderful garment to wear in Civil War Reenactments. This Incredible Shawl has a double apron with a short openwork woven border with 4" inch Fringe that drapes over the entire length of the shawl on the top and the Fringe is then repeated again on the bottom of the Wrap. It has 3 hand woven tassels that hang in the center fro a woven circular button and the Tassels Trail down the wearers back. This tassel is repeated again in the front as a tie. The petals on most of the Flowers and leaves are covered with what was known as the "Forbidden stitch". This very labor intensive stitch is a tiny little circle with a dimple in the middle. It is made by winding the Silk Floss around a needle repeatedly and then threading it through the middle of the coil and Silk Background. This Gorgeous Wrap measures an Exceptionally Large 86" inches long and 29" inches wide not including it's 8" inch openwork woven border and Fringe on the bottom. We included a photo of the embroidery on the reverse side that shows the needlework in our last photo. Overall this Shawl or Wrap is in Excellent Original Condition. The Embroidery is tight and intact and there are no repairs. We have inspected this Shawl carefully and found one 1/16" inch hole. There is a light stain measuring about 5" by about 9-1/2" measuring from the largest area and a very small one that measures about 1/4" in diameter that was so small we weren't able to capture it in a photo. They larger, light stain is featured in photos number 3, 22, 23, 24, and 25.We have included up close photos of this item in this listing.
