As a military brat he traveled to Morocco, Spain and throughout the USA.  His travels greatly influenced and inspired him. By the age of three he was singing and dancing in front of small audiences in the exotic places he lived. His artistic training began as early as elementary school and continued through college. While at the University of New Mexico, he worked closely with prominent art and music professors where his talents were recognized and encouraged, thus becoming the catapult to his career in fine arts and music.  He continued his studies in marketing, print advertisingand graphic communications, which further launched his ambitious endeavors and artistic vision. He is the proud designer and nationally acclaimed creator of the famous Desperado imagery, that includes his original paintings, designer jewelry, clothing and custom leather handcrafted cowboy boots.  He has also shown his artwork in numerous solo and group exhibitions all of the world and side by side of art legends like Andy Warhol and Nagel.    Larribas has delved into many varied art mediums while living in different cites in the USA.  While living in Colorado he created an image of the Desperado. He saw this imagery as being part of New Mexico and the southwest’s historic roots. he sold his first Desperado painting to a couple in California, which encouraged himto expand on the desperado theme.  This evolved into the “Desperada”, the desperado of yore known as a free-spirited southwestern woman.  He later transformed the series of paintings into a line of handmade jewelry with gold overlay in the southwestern tradition.  As he continued to develop a fashion line and interior designs he also started to write and perform his original music. His music is an amalgam of R&B, jazz, bluegrass and a touch of Latin. He has since produced his own CD.  His fame was highlighted when the well-known international production company , Shooters International  acquired the Desperado theme and opened a theme club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, designed by Gerald and featuring his paintings.  The success of the club and the performers who played there, such as the Dixie Chicks and Dwight Yokum helped revive the country music scene in Florida during the club’s seven-year run.  Gerald was instrumental in fusing fine art imagery with live music, thus creating a distinctive fine art entertainment concept that embraces life.    Larribas currently incorporates this fine art entertainment concept into his Albuquerque gallery, where he invites International and local musicians to perform in a fine art gallery setting.  The gallery exhibits his fine art originals along with the works of other well-known local and international artists.  His entertainment concept is unique to the Downtown Albuquerque area and divides itself into four categories or divisions of marketing:  Fine Art, Music, Fashion and Film.  This concept can be marketed to other cities that will in turn host a similar venue to present all four artistic endeavors under one roof.Gerald Larribas Selected Exhibitions and Collections (Art, jewelry & designs) -Hispanic Cultrual Center Museam/Desperado Boots perminant collectionWindchime Champagne GalleryLarribas Contemporary Gallery AlbuqeurqueLarribas Gallery Santa FeDyansen Gallery New YorkUnited States Airforce 15th 50th lecture HallNew Mexico State FairInternational Balloon Fiesta Entertainment show case 1998 to 2005Mati’ Jewelry companyKistler Kolastar fashion storesWestern Ware house nationalInternational Arabian Horse show art show case AlbuqueruqeBuckaroo Ball Santa FePierie Cardan Paris (fashion store)Leslie Pendleton gallery Scottsdale AZMercado Gallery Old town ABQInterior theme designs/Night clubsDesperado Club Fort Luaderdale FloridaMidnight Rodeo AlbuqeurqueBaxstreet Pheonix AZ/ Albuquerque NMWazee supper club ColoradoSculpture Showcse LTD New Hope PASanta Fe, NM Ore HouseUnited States Air force Kirkland Albuquerque, NM Generals HallCongress woman, Heather Wilson's office, Washington, DC
